Swing Bed Program
The Perfect Step Between Hospital and Home
After a hospital stay, some patients need a little more time and support before they’re ready to return home. The Swing Bed Program at South Lincoln Medical Center provides short-term skilled care in a comfortable, familiar setting—close to family, friends, and home.
Our Swing Bed patients receive hospital-level nursing care along with rehabilitation services designed to help restore strength, mobility, and independence.
What Is a Swing Bed?
A Swing Bed allows a hospital room to “swing” from acute care to skilled nursing care when a patient no longer needs to be hospitalized but still requires medical oversight and rehabilitation.
This program is ideal for patients recovering from:
Surgery or injury
Illness or infection
Stroke or cardiac events
Joint replacement or fractures
Care You Can Count On
Patients in our Swing Bed Program receive:
24/7 skilled nursing care
Physical, occupational, and speech therapy (as ordered)
Medication management
Personalized care plans focused on recovery goals
Support with daily activities as strength returns
Our care team works closely with each patient—and their family—to ensure a smooth transition home.
The Comfort of Healing Close to Home
Recovering close to home matters. Being near loved ones can improve comfort, confidence, and overall well-being. At South Lincoln Medical Center, patients receive attentive care from a team they know and trust, in a calm, supportive environment.
Is a Swing Bed Right for You or Your Loved One?
Swing Bed care may be an option if:
A physician determines skilled care is needed after hospitalization
The patient is medically stable but not ready to return home
Short-term rehabilitation is required
Our care team is happy to help determine eligibility and answer questions about insurance coverage and next steps.
