Kyla Franklin, DNP, APRN, FNP-CFamily Medicine
South Lincoln Medical Center
University of Wyoming, Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. My program focused heavily on primary care in rural settings.
Clinical hours (the NP equivalent of a residency) were all done in Southwest Wyoming. Sites included: Rock Springs' MHSC family practice clinic, Green River's Castle Rock Medical Center, Evanston's Community Health Center and Wyoming State Hospital, and my final clinical practicum was in Kemmerer's walk-in clinic this past summer. My doctoral quality improvement project revolved around improving contraceptive counseling to help women make a more informed, patient-centered selection. I also did extra training to insert and remove Nexplanon implants and IUDs.

I went to nursing school in Cheyenne, Wyoming and started my career in healthcare there 11 years ago. That is also where I met my husband, Cody. Prior to that I worked as a flight attendant where I enjoyed traveling the world, meeting new people, and figuring out what I wanted to do with my life. After working at several large medical centers, I found myself a bit frustrated by healthcare and decided to go back to school to learn more and get into a position where I could really make a difference. I enjoy helping others, and I feel that my nursing background will help me to be a more holistic healthcare provider. Additionally, my husband and I have 3 daughters. We have grown to love this community in our 4+ years here, and we are excited to stay and call Kemmerer home. Some random things about me: my childhood dream was to be a costume designer. I am an avid seamstress and enjoy sewing in my free time. Halloween is my favorite holiday. I find medicine fascinating and love learning about the human body and how to help people achieve health and wellness. I am so excited to start my career as a healthcare provider and I look forward to the challenges ahead.
